Today we looked at two factor theorem questions relating to factorising and solving cubic equations. (Class notes here) The class has suggested that it would be helpful if I would use the 'Cornell style maths notes' for displaying solutions in future. Thank you for giving feedback in your maths journals today.
In class we considered the different number systems - their meaning and their relationship to each other. We looked a question from last years LC paper. Class notes uploaded (click here).
Towards the end of class we did a quick revision of surd algebra and how to solve a surd equation. HW is to look at questions in this area. (see Algebra 2 Sec. 2.7 surds and 2.8 surd equations) This morning's class began with a quick check of last weeks learning homework - a provisional look at these suggest that the trig derivations have not been learned and practised to the standard required by many in the class.
We continued with our Algebra 2 (see Algebra 2.6) revision looking at how the Min/Max. of a quadratic curve can be read when the quadratic is expressed in the complete square form. (Class notes linked here.) In class today we looked at sections 2.1 to 2.4 Areas included
Today in class we discussed the Christmas Exams - I will confirm in the next few days the topics to cover. I also spoke of the roll that time keeping can play in getting the most out of a revision session - and the importance of constant revision to reinforce long term memory.
We then started to revise Algebra 2 completing Sections 2.1 and 2.2 (Class Notes uploaded here) The new thing covered in class today was Trigonometric proof 9. (Now correctly uploaded) We also looked at some of the geometry constructions video that I have created and have signposted that it might be a Christmas Project to practice the constructions.
Today I have also encouraged you to ensure you alert me if you are not understanding something. Using the contact form on the home page is an immediate way of doing this. Ask and I will try to answer your question.
Today in class we considered the next 3 Trigonometric proofs no. 5, 6 and 7. (Click here for class notes). Thank you for your honest responses to today's journal questions I will consider matters arising. Parent-Teacher meetings were on this evening and your parents have assured me that you are all working very hard - keep that faith! Talent in cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work. |
