In class on Friday we had a test on 2 trigonometric proofs no.2 and no.4. We then created 3D models of Pyramids and box shapes - this was to see that Pythagoras works in 3D giving the 'diagonal length' - I ended class showing an animated model of this (Link here) HW was to look again at Thursday nights HW in light of this.
Today in class we looked at Trigonometry proofs 3 & 4 (Click here) these are to be learned for HW. We also learned how to solve 3D trigonometry problems (2 Examples from Class). HW All questions on Exercise 6.8 starting p.375 Friday.
Today in class we looked at Arc length and Sector Area from the OL Maths course. We have completed our review of the Ol course now. We then took notes on 2 of the 8 trigonometric proofs on the course (I have uploaded the notes here). HW is to learn these.
You also had your Algebra 1 test returned today I hope you can take a few minutes to look over that test and correct your mistakes. (Solutions here) Delighted to be met with a class 1st thing Monday morning preparing for the test and ready to go sitting in the test seats. Well done. I hope that the test went well for you. The (correct!) solutions are uploaded now, I hope that you get the chance to review it to clear up any misunderstanding in this area. (Algebra 1 Test Solutions)
On Friday we looked over patterns in preparation for Monday's test on Algebra chapter 1.
The last two classes have been spent revising Trigonometry - Sine Rule, Cosine rule, area formula and today we looked at angles of 30,45 and 60 degrees and angles related to these between 0 and 360 degrees.
To help with your Algebra 1 revision I have uploaded a video reminding you of how to deal with Linear and Quadratic Patterns. In class today we were revision ordinary level trigonometry - we did questions using Pythagoras Theorem, and SOH, CAH, TOA.
It has been decided that on Friday we will spend one day answering questions arising from Algebra 1 revision and on Monday we will have a test. Welcome back after the mid-term. Well done the class on your earnest participation in 'Algebra Day' I think we covered at least 5 weeks worth of maths. I hope that you use the opportunity over the next few days to review the work and prepare any questions that you might have arising from topics covered - that is tonight's h/w. There was a problem with the solutions to Algebra 1 file earlier today - that has now been sorted.
Today we learned how to graph the periodic functions: y= sin(x), y=cos(x) and y=tan(x), with that we have completed Differentiation and its Applications. Hooray! These notes have been uploaded. Tomorrow bring in the Concise Maths Book and we'll start into Trigonometry. |
